Virginia Ryan

Age 87, passed away Wednesday, February 22, 2012. Virginia was born March 25, 1924 in Lansing, the daughter of the late Dariel and Arevilla (Young) VanDugteren. She was a Consumers Power retiree and Treasurer of the Capitaliers. Virginia was a lifetime bowler and member of the Lansing Bowler's Hall of Fame. She served as president of the Lansing Women's Bowling Association for 20 years during the 1950's and 1960's. Virginia volunteered and orginized blood drives for the American Red Cross and was a longtime member of Mt. Hope United Methodist Church. Virginia was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Bob VanDugteren and husbands, Albert Banning and E.R.Ryan, Jr. Surviving are her children, Cinda (Paul) Kimbirauskas and Thomas R. (Mary C.) Ryan; 3 grandchildren, Paula and Ryan Kimbirauskas and Edward R. Ryan, III. Virginia's wish was to be cremated and a private family inurned with her husband, E. R. Ryan, in Chapel Hill Memory Gardens, Lansing. A Celebration of Virginia's life will be held Friday, April 27, 1:00 p.m. at Mt. Hope United Methodist Church, 501 E. Mt. Hope Ave., Lansing.
