Kenneth Roger Kiwala

Ken, known as “Uncle Ken” to many, was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, uncle, and friend. He was a kind, loving, generous spirit, with a smile for all who knew him.

Ken passed away on February 15, 2013, at the age of 72. He was born December 4, 1940, to Frank and Mary Kiwala, who preceded him in death. Ken’s beloved dog, KoKo, spent every moment by his side until passing in 2005.

Ken is survived by Peggy his wife of 42 years, two children; daughter, Koleen (David) Mouw, son, Kim Kiwala, and grandson, Kolin Mouw. He is also survived by his brother, Richard Kiwala, sister-in-law, Pam Many, special niece, Jennifer Many, nephews, Scott Many, Jeffrey Many, and Richie Clark, and two aunts; Angelina Narodowiec and Ann Czubak. He will also be missed by his extended Ruiz and Helmic families, and many friends and neighbors.

Ken enjoyed spending time at his cottage at Higgins Lake, and at the Eagles in Lansing. He enjoyed gardening and manicuring his lawn. His favorite pastimes included golfing, going to the casino, and playing cards. Ken was a butcher by trade and also retired as a truck driver from Boichot Concrete. Ken was a member of St. Therese Catholic Church, Eagles Lodge, and Moose Lodge.

His family would like to extend a special thank you to the caregivers at Eaton Community Palliative Care for their loving care of Ken during his final days.

Funeral services will be held at St. Therese Catholic Church, 102 W. Randolph, Lansing MI., on Wednesday, February 20, 2013 at 11:00 AM with Rev. John Fain as celebrant. Interment will follow in Delta Center Cemetery. The family will receive relatives and friends at the Palmer, Bush & Jensen Funeral Home, Holt Chapel, 5035 Holt Rd., Holt, MI on Tuesday, February 19, 2013, from 2-4 and 6-9 PM with the Rosary at 6:30 PM. Visitation will continue at the church one hour prior to the Mass. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Eaton Community Palliative Care in Charlotte, or to the Capital Area Humane Society.
