Eva E. McAlvey

Eva E. McAlvey, 97, passed away Thursday, February 21, 2013, at Royston Ridge Adult Foster Care facility, Grand Ledge, MI. She was born June 24, 1915, in East Boston, Massachusetts of Italian immigrant parents, Evasio "Pa" Borracci and Ada Tizi. On November 11, 1938, she married Keith F. McAlvey, a WWII war veteran who passed away on November 30, 2001. Keith retired in 1977 from General Motors and moved from Grand Ledge to Pretty Lake, Mecosta, MI. They enjoyed bowling, square dancing, and traveling. In 1999 they moved to the north side of Lansing, near their daughter. She is survived by a son, Donald J. (Marlene) McAlvey, Sr.; 7 grandchildren, Marcia (Richard) Wagner, Donald J. McAlvey, Jr., Angela (Harry) Johnson, Karen (Kevin) Barnes, Michelle (David) Zumwalt, Pamela Mackie, and Kimberly (Michael) Kirkpatrick, 15 great grandchildren, 2 great great-grandchildren, son-in-law, Norman Koivu and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Sandra K. Koivu of Lansing, MI, and a great grandson, Joshua J. Reeder. Also preceding her in death were her parents, 3 brothers, Dino, Leo and John Borracci; 3 sisters, Valda Shaw, Ida Semon, and Lena Breda. Eva and Keith, along with their son, Don went to Italy which was a highlight of their travels as she returned to the country where her parents were born. Eva and Keith enjoyed having Sandra and Don and their children and grandchildren visit them during their 22 years at Pretty Lake. The boating, fishing and cookouts were the highlights of each visit with them. The Funeral Liturgy will be held Monday, 11:00 a.m., at the Palmer, Bush and Jensen Family Funeral Homes, Delta Chapel with Rev. Fr. James Eisele officiating. Interment will follow at Hillside Cemetery. The family will receive friends Sunday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. and Monday one hour prior to the service time. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Heartland Hospice in memory of Eva McAlvey. Friends may send a condolence at www.palmerbush.com.
